Announcing the February Chicago Food Swap

The Chicago Food Swap meets are always mouth watering. By the time you walk around and sample everyone’s goodies and begin swapping, you can’t wait to get home and start cooking and eating. But next months’ Chicago Food Swap should be even more of a treat than normal, because we’re hosting it at a delightful chocolate shop in Logan Square called Katherine Anne Confections and the aroma of locally sourced truffles and rich hot chocolate will be wafting around us throughout the afternoon.

Katherine Anne Hot Chocolate

We had a handful of registration spots open last night when I began this post, but are now full. However, we do have a wait list, and usually end up taking people off of it. If this sounds appealing, don’t wait to finish reading this article. Sign up right now.

Since we launched the Chicago Food Swap a year ago, Emily Paster and I have been so grateful to the businesses who have hosted our swap meets. We’ve been deeply inspired by the passion and the dedication of these individuals whose stores are as lovingly crafted as our food swap goods, bringing to the Chicago area exotic spices, handmade clothes, organic gardening solutions to name a few.

katherine Anne StoreWe’re thrilled to be hosting the next swap at Katherine Anne confections because Katherine began her business as a hobbyist, someone passionate to make better and better chocolate truffles. Over the years, her hobby turned into a catering and online business, and finally, in this delightful Logan Square shop. Her truffles, caramels and marshmallows are handmade with quality, local ingredients and you can really taste the difference. I was hooked by her hazelnut truffle, and immediately signed up for her next Friday night truffle preview evening as well as a truffle making class with my daughter.

The February Food Swap is going to be so good, it might be a little dangerous! The swap will be taking place in the hours before the Superbowl, sending everyone home well before half time with baskets full of treats.

Mark your calendars for the next swap: April 7. And if you have any locations in mind – let us know. We’re busy trying to plan ahead to find other like-minded businesses to host us.

We are more excited than any one family should be about the food swap. :) The three of us are all bringing our own goodies to trade. My son (13) has talked about it every day since we signed up. haha
