>the "I Heart Beef" Omaha Steaks Giveaway

>

February is the month of love. Not only romantic love… but also the love of beef, because February is “I Heart Beef” month. And if you ask me, I think it’s a perfect fit. There simply is no better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with a tender filet mignon steak followed by a midnight black molten chocolate cake.

But in our house, we pretty much celebrate our love of beef all year round. In the summer, we broadcast our love to the neighborhood through the mouth-watering aroma of the thick, marinated, juicy ribeye steaks or tangy beef kabobs on our grill most Sundays. But once our grill is put away, we continue to celebrate our love of beef in the crockpot with beef bourguignon stew or exotic pot roasts that send their perfume wafting through the house in our absence.

Today, in honor of “I Heart Beef” month, I am joining a select group of other beef-loving bloggers in giving away one $100 gift certificate from Omaha Steaks. Just imagine how many gorgeous steaks you could get for $100 at Omaha Steaks!

ENTER TO WIN A $100 OMAHA STEAKS GIFT CARD:

  1. Go check out the Beef, It’s What’s For Dinner website. They have amazing recipes there, as well as cooking lessons, and suggestions on how to cook leaner and cheaper cuts of beef. How can you not be inspired by Pomegranate Steak with Quinoa or Bristro Beef Tapenade?
  2. Then leave me a comment here BEFORE FEBRUARY 28 sharing a memory of special beef meal. Please mention your favorite tool or recipe on the Beef It’s What’s For Dinner website. I’ll select the winner at 5PM EST that day.
  3. For additional chances to win, you can:
And just to improve your chances (but know that you will only be able to win one of the contests), here are links to the contests the other beef-loving bloggers are doing:

Please note that I wrote this review while working on a “I Heart Beef” campaign with TheMotherhood.com on behalf of The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

      >I am the granddaughter of an Italian American butcher from south Philadelphia. Growing up in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, meat was a staple in our household. The freezer was alway filled with thick steaks, lean filets, succulant lamb chops. Meat was served almost every night. Some of my earliest memories are in my grandfather's corner butcher shop and running around the cow hinds hanging in freezer. In this day and age of "eat-less-meat, I crave red meat. Just tonight, I treated myself to an order of hanger steak, ordered medium rare, nothing warms the soul better on a cold snowy February night.

      >My Beef memory is from more then 25 years ago when i was around 5 or 6.
My parents wanted to have a special candlelight Dinner w/ Steak at home and there was nothing they could do with me except let me join.
I was not amused with eating in the dark and made sure my parents knew that i couldn't see if there was fat on my meat.
I don't think they tried that again unless i went to visit my grandparents;)
Nowadays i would love to have a Candlelight Dinner w/hubby,even if i can't see my food!

I don't know if it was the meat quality, the fact that we were usually too poor for steak, outdoor air, or the love high from being married the day before, but those were the BEST steaks we have EVER had.

We went to LG's steak house in Palm Springs, CA and I saw that you actually got more meat on the kabobs, plus the yummy grilled veggies than you got with several of the lower priced steaks, so that's what I got and they were AMAZING! It's the first time we were served steaks on 400 degree sizzling platters. Ruth Chris coms close to being as good, but you can never beat the first time!

      >Thanks for the giveaway…my favorite recipe is the "Mediterranean Steak & Pasta with Tomato-Olive Sauce"

A memorable beef meal occurred every weekend in the summertime when I was a kid: my late Father would wheel out his ancient charcoal grill and proceed to grill steaks seasoned with garlic & beer !

      >I like the recipes for using "rubs" on beef and ideas for more ways to use the rubs. We are a beef loving family. We love grilling it out side and if the weather isn't good it doesn't stop beef around here- broil it. Love it.

      >I found the chart for how long you can keep refrigerated or frozen beef to be a useful tool. I have a special beef meal every time my husband cooks beef. He could easily be a 4-star chef. I've never been much of a meat eater, but I eat and enjoy everything he cooks.

      >I think the recipe for Asian Beef & Broccoli Slaw Wraps sounds good! I love that they have lots of variety in their recipes!

Ages ago my parents had lent me some money that I could put towards the down payment on my house, so that I could assume the current mortgage rather than get a new mortgage with a high interest rate. I paid them off in three years, and as a thank you, took them out to dinner at one of the more exclusive restaurants in our area – we had Beef Wellington that was to die for!! So, they got a great meal AND their money back!

      Thanks for the giveaway!

      >The Recipe Finder is my favorite tool. I used it to find a recipe for French Onion Soup. Over the holidays I had lunch with family and friends at a fancy European style restaurant and was surprised when they served my French onion soup in a hollowed out Vidalia onion. The broth had a rich beef flavor with a hint of sherry and was topped with crusty bread and melted cheese.
