>Hurricane Bill Brushes the Outer Banks

Hurricane Bill came rolling in last night, transforming our calm, warm waves of Duck, NC into angry rolling thunder. All night long, the dull roar of the surf penetrated our dreams.

Today we woke to an ocean transformed. The sun is still beating down, but the beaches are empty, deserted by the crimson No Swimming signs.

No sandcastles or boogie boarding today, but there is still fun to be had, running in the foam. But amidst all our laughter, we’re all awed by this hint of the power of the sea.

  2. >The Outer Banks are gorgeous. Last time I was there was BC (before children) but it occurred to me that it would be a perfect vacation spot for a family.

Even if you have to stay out of the water, it looks like you are having a great time.

    How is the seafood?
